What made you want to choose Gemini post internship?
I obtained invaluable experience through the challenges and responsibilities at Gemini during my internship, which left me craving more. From discussions with my classmates, post internship, I realized that few other places allowed such opportunities that I had been given at Gemini. After graduation I immediately applied at Gemini to continue my career.
What has Gemini offered you that other companies couldn't?
Gemini has allowed me to gain experience in a large variety of electrical applications in the oil and gas field. Because of the structure of Gemini as an EPC company, I have been able to gain a better insight not only in my own field of expertise, but also an appreciation of other disciplines such as mechanical and process. I have been privileged to take part in the full cycle of multiple projects from start to finish at this point in my career. Not only have I been able to participate in the full cycle of the project in the office at Gemini, I have been able to even go to the field and see our final product as well as be a part of commissioning, start-up and testing of our design before the final hand-over to the client. It has been my observation from discussions with my peers that few other companies offer such a diverse amount of experience as well as allow a person to take part in so many different applications for engineering in the oil and gas industry.
What do you enjoy most about working at Gemini?
The opportunity and diverse experience gained from overcoming challenges during the execution of the large variety of project work at Gemini. By increasing my level of responsibility I have been privileged to expand my skill levels by working on different phases and applications of projects. This keeps work interesting, enjoyable, challenging and fun. I enjoy being able to discover new perspectives and take on fresh tasks at Gemini without having to be asked to complete the same tasks over and over again. I also appreciate how Gemini recognizes and encourages employees who take on more responsibility and work as part of a team towards established goals.
How has Gemini aided in your professional development?
Gemini has allowed me to take part in various projects and given me the responsibility to play key roles in the design, implementation, construction and testing phases in a vibrant team environment. Being a part of the Electrical Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) discipline group I have been given the opportunity to experience different aspects including drafting, controls and instrumentation work. These experiences have helped build up my technical knowledge of the tasks required for design and implementation of EIC design in the oil and gas industry. Along with technical skill, I have been able to improve my soft skills at Gemini by interacting with various people (clients, vendors, operators, field technicians, inspectors, engineers, etc), taking part in project meetings and helping direct the electrical scope of projects. All the experiences I have been fortunate to receive, in my view, have allowed me to fast track my career at Gemini.
